The Purpose
Deloitte’s remit to us was to develop a tool that could “read” documents and 1) identify structural and grammatical errors; 2) classify the content into certain pre-defined categories; and 3) validate the data in the documents against a set of business rules. We built a robust and scalable system that can process thousands of documents of multiple types – leading to increased efficiencies in the consulting and audit groups.
The Tech
The core technology used is Natural Language Processing. Our tool was “trained” using hundreds of representative documents to recognize patterns in the content and use those to extract data and classify the material. We also built a simple content platform to allow users to easily upload their documents into the system and then retrieve data and reports.
